These are the expectations we hold for one another. They are short on rules and long on care, because the value of this community comes from how we treat each other.
Be respectful
Speak to one another with dignity, even when you disagree. Disagreement is welcome; contempt is not.
Protect privacy
Do not share someone else's personal information, phone number, private message, family details, business details, or story without their permission.
Share lived experience honestly
Share what you know firsthand. When something is opinion, hearsay, or secondhand, say so plainly — it still helps, as long as it is labelled.
No political, personal, or tribal attacks
Keep the Circle focused on practical knowledge, lived experience, and community support. Avoid content that targets people or groups.
No harassment or intimidation
No threats, bullying, insults, doxxing, stalking, or pressure tactics of any kind.
No misleading promotion
Businesses and services can be recommended warmly — but do not disguise advertising as community advice. Say when something is yours.
No scams or exploitation
No fraudulent offers, fake opportunities, predatory investment claims, fake jobs, or misleading fundraising.
Respect safety
Avoid sharing information that could put people, families, businesses, or locations at risk.
Contribute with care
Sooma Circle exists to preserve helpful knowledge, not to create noise. One careful note is worth more than ten quick ones.
